Standing on the beach in the early morning of the Iron Man World Championships 2014, now 4 years ago, it felt almost unreal that we were really living this moment. As I was watching Walter enter the water together with all other qualified athletes, the sun slowly made her way above the water of the bay area of Kona, Big Island, Hawaii. Next to me our kids were amazed by the sight of this spectacle and the huge waves that rolled against the shores, while the crowd was growing more and more wild as the starting time of this world championship came closer. This was a vision about to happen. This was a moment never to forget. This was the end of an intense...

Great article, written by Benjamin P.Hardy (https://benjaminhardy.com) aligned with our philosophy on coaching on high performance -

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”— Max Planck, German quantum theorist and Nobel Prize winner

There are two primary mental shifts that occur in the lives of all highly successful people. Many make the first, but very few make the second.

Both of these shifts require a great deal of mental stretching from conventional and societal ways of thinking. In many ways, these shifts require you to unlearn the negative and sabotaging programming from your youth, public education, and even a...

If you could get all the people in an organization rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any market, against any competition. But the truth is that genuine teamwork, let alone High Performance Teamwork, remains elusive in most organizations.  What we have experienced over the last ten years in building High Performance within the organizations we work with, is that the journey is - in the end - about having the discipline and persistence. Teams that are successful to develop this kind of DNA will become an HPT that wins, outperforms and exceeds expectations.

It’s difficult to build a high performing team, but not comp...

Amazing how this video shows what happens if you can embrace the support of the group!

Thanks to Thirza (www.tharpha.nl) I have picked up yoga since a couple of weeks.  Next to that it is truly challenging (I have felt muscles that I have never felt before in my life!), truly grounding (after 90 minutes of yoga you are not able to think AT ALL anymore!) and thus you start telling yourself that you are obviously doing something very healthy for your body and soul, I must admit that I actually seem to like it!

Thirza, a very well trained, super flexible yoga teacher and life coach, 'harassed' me for many weeks to participate in one of her classes after she started dating Walters' brother, but sending me this video did the tri...

Feeling so proud when I came across this article... Daring to set an audacious goal in 2011, ending up nr1 in 2014! It was an extraordinary adventure being part of this dream Walter! Being an ironman at this moment still requires patience in your recovery from knee surgery in December. I know for sure one day you will compete again.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how long ago it was, seeing a picture will take you right back into that moment. One year ago I had the privilege of visiting Singapore and work with a wonderful, multi cultural team of very dedicated, committed and warm people. I will never forget this week and the opportunity I had to sightsee parts of this beautiful city. Seeing this picture takes me straight back into feeling 'on top of the world'. Do you have a picture like this as well? It is definitely worth taking a good look at once in a while!

A new dutch song on the radio suddenly deeply struck my heart. Waiting in traffic I couldn't help myself feeling overwhelmed by emotions. Listening to the lyrics of this song (unfortunately for our english readers it is in dutch) I could see my dad in front of me, reading me a bedtime story, pulling my mother close. I remembered how he used to whistle in our home, driving my school and sports performance, intensely proud of his daughters and grandchildren... How I miss him. How we all miss him. In 4 days I turn the same age my dad was when being diagnosed with irreversible cancer... After that 11 more years of joy, laughter, tears and love. Twelve year...
